A local case that is becoming an authentic national case. A political choice, the result of a different vision of the city’s future, or an excuse to sink those on the platform? In Florence we literally don’t talk about anything else. The story speaks briefly of the councilor for mobility, Cecilia Del Re, who, last Monday, opened up the possibility of diverting the route of the future tram near the Duomo. A statement that didn’t settle, neither with the mayor, nor with the leaders of the Democratic Party. An unhappy departure, the result, according to the mayor, “of personal ambitions”. Which led Mayor Dario Nardella to decide, within twenty-four hours, to withdraw his powers as councilor. “Trust has failed.” It is worth remembering that Cecilia Del Re, the 2019 preference champion, was appointed as the right and obvious candidate of the Democratic Party for the highest seat in the Palazzo Vecchio. “It was a pretext to remodel the council – underlined the former councilor – I heard about the news through the press, I couldn’t speak to Mayor Nardella, I asked for a meeting with him, I tried to call him, but without success. of skin at a national level if at a local level the same logic persists: today’s gesture, today’s tones, are not a good message”.
Del Re devoted himself to bringing votes and consents to Bonaccini. Just like Nardella. “Elly Schlein’s triumph and the night of the long knives at Botteghe Oscure changed everything – says an executive of the Florentine Democratic Party -. Someone knew how to lower his head and was recycled, in the hope of a future candidacy for the European Parliament, another had to pay for his choice with defenestration”. Then there is a theme, that of machismo among the dem, which is raised, among others, by former councilor Francesca Paolieri. Who in a Facebook post writes: “How much fear will this well-prepared, good young woman, with many votes and approvals, cause you, dear boys in power? You killed her with absurd motives and without a shred of humanity and you think that way she will disappear? In the shadow of Giotto’s bell tower, the endless struggle for the succession of King Darius began. A game, for now, entirely within the left. The right, dozing, watches. And study the next steps. Because never before has the office of mayor of Florence become contestable.
