The Council of Ministers gave the green light to the measure concerning the bridge over the Strait of Messina. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport announces that “we are returning from the final project of 2011 which will be adapted to the new technical, safety and environmental standards”. The new authorization process “will have to stamp the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world (3.2 kilometers), which will represent the flagship of the art of Italian engineering.”
Minister Matteo Salvini rejoices: “It is a historic day not only for Sicily and Calabria, but for all of Italy. After 50 years of conversation, this Council of Ministers approves the bridge that links Sicily to the rest of Italy and to Europe”, says the deputy prime minister in a video message at the end of the CDM that approved the green light for the bridge over the Strait of Messina.
The project is an old fascination of Silvio Berlusconi: “The bridge over the Strait of Messina starts again: it is a concrete project, which represents the idea of the future that we have always had. Already 20 years ago, with my government, we had the project ready, a “strategic work that would have been carried out if the left had not intervened in the NO policy. This time they won’t stop us”, writes the leader of Forza Italia on social networks. .”It will be a bridge that will link Sicily not only to Calabria, but also to Italy and the whole of Europe: with the new engine for the Sicilian economy that will guarantee employment for more than one hundred thousand people and Sicily will thus become a base for the logistics of international transport coming from the Mediterranean. It’s yet another promise to the Italians that we’ve finally managed to keep,” writes Cav.
