After the conversation between Lucia Annunziata and the Minister of Equal Opportunities and the Eugenia Roccella Family during the episode of “Mezz’Ora in Più” on Rai3 on Sunday, the Association of Users of Radio and Television Services intervened announcing a complaint to the Authority of communications and a request for a meeting with the board of Rai. “In an information program on the public network, where there are institutional guests and representatives of the Government and Parliament, the use of inappropriate language is not tolerable”, explained the Association to the Adnkronos agency.
It then underlines: «The terms used by Lucia Annunziata in her outburst are perhaps more appropriate for useless programs like “Big Brother” and, in addition to being inappropriate, may represent a violation of the rules governing the public radio service and television”. For this reason, the Association of Users of Radio and Television Services decided to present a report to Agcom, asking for the opening of an investigation into the episode “and to verify whether the use of profanity during a Rai newscast could represent a violation of the law in matter ”, he explains.
“Also the association, also following the serious cases in Sanremo that Agcom and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are investigating, has asked the members of Rai’s board of directors for an urgent meeting.” Brothers of Italy also criticizes the behavior of Lucia Annunziata. «What happened yesterday during the transmission “In half an hour” is truly unacceptable – the members of the Supervisory Commission write in a note – The presenter repeatedly interrupted Minister Eugenia Roccella preventing her from speaking, to the point of falling into vulgarity. What’s the use of inviting a political figure, who is also a minister, for an interview and then preventing him from speaking because his theses are not shared? Partisan and ideology are the opposite of public service, Lucia Annunziata became the protagonist of a bad page of journalism and public broadcasting. The time has come to turn the page, respect for taxpayers who pay Rai’s licensing fee can no longer be lacking”. PD deputy Francesco Boccia replies: “Lucia Annunziata is a victim of edicts. We say clearly on the right: the Bulgarian decrees have backfired on the right. We will not allow any journalist to be threatened. Annunziata does not need to be defended by us, it defends itself with its history».
And the secretary of the Italian Left, Nicola Fratoianni, points out: “Gasparri’s threats and Lucia Annunziata’s right give a good idea of what the majority’s intentions are in relation to public service and radio and television pluralism. Apart from the ridiculous accusations of Stalinism that speak for themselves, the practice of threatening journalists is serious and must be vehemently rejected. The response from Maurizio Gasparri, senator of the FI, was immediate: «Fratoianni is a parliamentarian, the transmission must be reviewed to realize that no one threatens the Annunziata, who has been doing what he wants for decades in Rai, with Rai and Rai, but that it is she who threatens Parliament, mocking the Commissions that vote and dreaming of a world in which Parliament votes only as she says, “Marquis of Grillo” of screens and politics. So Fratoianni defends the sovereignty of Parliament rather than that of his television friends”.
