Belgian police raided the headquarters of the European Christian Democrats EPP in Brussels this morning at the request of the German police. Police and judiciary are investigating German politician Mario Voigt.
Voigt is the head of the CDU in Thuringia. He ran EPP’s internet campaign in 2019 and allegedly signed a contract with a company that would pay him to do so.

The case is separate from the bribery case in Qatar and Morocco, according to sources. These countries used to bribe parliamentarians in Brussels to influence decisions.
82 Christian Democratic and conservative parties from 43 countries are members of the EPP, including the CDA. In the European Parliament, the EPP, led by the German Manfred Weber, has the largest group.
CDA has five MEPs in the EPP Group.
