A leader who has shaped Italian politics for the last thirty years. And that today, after having won everything, as a businessman and as an athlete, in Parliament and in publishing, he finds himself fighting his most difficult battle. Silvio Berlusconi’s health conditions remain at the center of public debate today. The invitation not to give up comes from the person who, for years, has been considered his natural heir: Matteo Renzi. “I never voted for Silvio Berlusconi. And Forza Italia never voted to trust my government. But never as at this moment I want to say with affection: Forza Silvio. We are waiting for you smiling in the Senate”. The native of Rignano used his Instagram profile to send a message of human hope. A wish for a speedy recovery, which is also followed by Carlo Calenda, interviewed a few minutes ago by Tg1 Mattina.
“I just said that I want Berlusconi to come home as soon as possible. It was a lion: I used the same words your son used. And yet – underlines Calenda – I was attacked by all of Forza Italia: I think more out of agitation for the current moment than for something I actually said. They failed to mention something that I considered inappropriate, because in these situations the only thing that can be said is to wish the patient the best. I had my wife with leukemia, so much less if I don’t sympathize with President Berlusconi, God forbid.”
The future of the center-right government, what will become of Forza Italia, the possible alliances today are only hypotheses in the background. On this day in April, everyone is rooting for the speedy recovery of the leader of Forza Italia.
