Italy’s full support for Ukraine and its president Volodymyr Zelensky does not convince Italians. According to a survey carried out by Roberto Baldassari, general director of Lab21.01, for Affaritaliani, 52.2% of respondents do not agree with full support for the country invaded by Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Those in favor of staying in Kiev without ses and buts account for 47.8%. Furthermore, as noted for months by several polling institutes, a majority of Italians (56.8%) are opposed to sending arms to Ukraine, while 43.2% are in favor.
The result arrives at the end of the G7 in Hiroshima, where Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met the great names of the world, but also Zelensky himself. The summit confirmed the strong support of the most developed countries to Ukraine. “Putin will not weaken our resolve, as he thought he might,” said US President Joe Biden, who met with the Ukrainian leader: “This morning, I once again assured President Zelensky that we will not waver.”
The poll for Sunday, May 21, also includes political parties’ voting intentions. There are no particular landslides, but the trend is singular: virtually everyone loses something. Brothers of Italy is at 29.1%, La Liga at 9.6, Forza Italia at 6.8. The Democratic Party registers a decline, returning below 20 percent (19.9), while the 5 Star Movement is among the few to rise again: 16.1 percent is given. .
