Stop everyone: not only has the Schlein effect disappeared, but now the Democratic Party has started to fall sharply. In the latest SWG political survey for La7 news, presented on Monday, May 22, by director Enrico Mentana, the number of the Democratic Party stands out, which has suffered a significant drop. Elly Schlein’s party lost 0.4% in just one week, falling from 21.3% to 20.9%. That widened the gap with Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party, which remains the country’s main political force. This comes despite a 0.1 percent decline. Today, FdI remains firmly at the top of the rankings with 29.7% of the vote.
Giuseppe Conte is better on the left with the 5 Star Movement on the rise. The grillini (+0.2%) are now positioned 16% behind the Democratic Party. Matteo Salvini’s League gains support, the fourth party, an increase of 0.2% that takes Carroccio to 8.8%.
Other positions on the usual Mentana stock exchange on Monday were Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia, which fell 0.1% to 6.7%. Then comes the Carlo Calenda Action, which registered an increase of +0.2% reaching 4.3%. At the end of the ranking we find Verdi and the Left with 3.5% (+0.1%), Italia Viva by Matteo Renzi stable with 2.7%, +Europe with 2.2% (-0.2%), Para Italy with Paragone at 2% (+0.1%) and Popular Union at 1.6% (+0.2%).
