Italians will vote Ballots in 41 municipalities and for the first round of municipal elections in Sicily and Sardinia, the polls open today, 29 May, from 7 to 15. Ballots dated 28 and 29 May 2023
A total of 1,340,688 voters participate in the ballot boxes. Voting takes place in 41 municipalities, including seven capitals: Vicenza, Massa, Pisa, Siena, Terni, Ancona, Brindisi.
According to the data of the Ministry of Interior, at 23:00 on Sunday, May 28, the turnout was 37.51%. A figure below the 45.43% recorded in the first round.
Going into the details of the capitals, Daniele Silvetti (center right) and Ida Simonella (center left) face off in Ancona.
In Brindisi, the race is between centre-right candidate Pino Marchionna and centre-left rival Roberto Fusco, backed by the M5S.
In Massa, outgoing mayor Francesco Persiani and Pd and Alleanza Verdi Sinistra candidate Enzo Ricci, supported by Lega, Forza Italia and civic lists, compete for the tricolor belt.

Elections on 28 and 29 May 2023 in Sicily
Even in Sicily, polls reopen until 3 pm today, 29 May.128 Municipalities are voting to elect mayors and renew city councils. The relevant population is 1,387,169 people. Four provincial capitals were called to the polls: Catania, Ragusa, Trapani and Syracuse. Voting is carried out in 113 centers (up to 15,000 population) with a majority system, and in fifteen with a proportional system.
There is a sharp drop in turnout on the first day of the elections on the island. When the polls closed at 23:00 on Sunday evening, the voter rate was 44.38%, lower than in the last election round in all municipalities.

Voting is also held for the first round of municipal elections in Sardinia.
