Expansion of the center-right in local elections. The government coalition wins in 5 provincial capitals in the vote of 7, while giving way to Vicenza, which goes by a thread to the center-left, and Terni, where the civic (albeit from the center-right) wins. A good result for the Brothers of Italy, Lega and Forza Italia is also expected in the Sicilian capitals, where voting took place in the first round. The centre-right surprisingly wins in Ancona and in the three Tuscan cities that went to the polls, Siena, Pisa and Massa.
In the capital Marche, a center-right mayor was elected for the first time in history: it was Daniele Silvetti who, with 51.7%, surpassed Ida Simonella (48.3%). In Pisa, outgoing mayor Michele Conti was reappointed with 52.11%, against 47.89% for centre-left candidate Paolo Martinelli. The center-right also holds Siena, where Nicoletta Fabio surpasses, with 52.16%, the candidate Anna Ferretti (47.84%), representing the center-left. And, again in Tuscany, in Massa, where, with 54.4%, Francesco Persiani beats Romolo Ricci (45.6%). The centre-right also triumphs in Brindisi, where Giuseppe Marchionna (54%) starts the Municipality on the centre-left (Roberto Fusco stops at 46%).
In Vicenza, on the other hand, the only victory for the center-left was recorded among the provincial capitals. The Pd-led coalition moves the Municipality away from the centre-right: Giacomo Possamai, with 23,416 votes, surpasses the outgoing mayor Francesco Rucco (supported by the centre-right, Lega, Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, civic votes; 22,916 votes). ‘Sui generis’ case in Terni, where the patron of Ternana Stefano Bandecchi, civic candidate of the centre-right, overcomes the candidate supported by the governing coalition parties Orlando Masselli with 54.6% (45.4%). And Schlein expected a 5-2 to the left…
