The result of administrative 2023 is clear and leaves no room for discussion. In the municipal election ballot, the centre-right won a big victory over the centre-left. Voting has resumed in 41 Italian municipalities, including 7 regional capitals. A monologue of the FdI-Lega-FI alliance that wins the confrontation in the capitals by 5 to 1 thanks to the victories in Ancona, Siena, Pisa Brindisi and Massa, in addition to the important affirmation in Catania. Just a big hit in Vicenza for the Democratic Party and 5stelle. For Elly Schlein it was a very heavy defeat and that is precisely the central theme of the La7 program “L’aria che tira” presented by Myrta Merlino. Among the guests on the talk show was the director of the Republic Maurizio Molinari who commented on the results of the management.
“The Democratic Party suffered a direct defeat, very hard, it lost in Ancona, in Tuscany and in other important municipalities”, says Molinari, who is very clear in his judgment and clearly states that the defeat of the center-left is “a political coup setback of national importance and puts Secretary Elly Schlein in great trouble.”
The disappointing result of the municipal elections is a hard blow for Schlein and for the Democratic Party, in which there is a growing discontent with the leader, there is tension and concern within the party. Molinari continues his speech talking about the secretary of the dem: “This defeat requires her to accelerate the process of presenting a project that goes beyond alliances”, such as Giuseppe Conte’s 5-star movement, “and she was elected to the party’s secretary democrat thanks to the votes of many young people who preferred her to Bonaccini in new topics”. Maurizio Molinari concludes his speech by stating: “The question mark is whether Elly Schlein’s approach can serve the Democratic Party or not, that is not a trivial question”. After two months at the helm of the dem, Schlein still hasn’t achieved a broad consensus and the succession of defeats in the municipal elections only makes the situation worse. What is certain is that Democratic Party voters are still waiting for the results of the “Schlein effect” that, apparently, are taking a long time to arrive.
