Luigi Di Maio’s first tweet on his new profile was just a few hours ago. The new special representative of the European Union in the Persian Gulf had used the new social account to baptize the role of special envoy: And, to give a greater aura of officiality and internationality, he decided to translate his message also into Arabic and Persian : «Ready and fully committed to engaging Member States, EU institutions and each of our partners in the region – wrote the former M5S leader and Deputy Prime Minister of the profile “EUSR_Gulf” – There is so much at stake and so much to do, through sincere dialogue and mutual respect. For our shared security and prosperity.”
The new profile, however, was short-lived. The reasons for the decision are not yet known. But Twitter decided to suspend the account. And the message that stands out on the social page says curtly: “We suspend accounts that violate Twitter’s rules”. Apparently, Di Maio is not only criticized in Italy.
