Minister Valditara against violence in schools: permanent psychologist

After the attack on the teacher at the Abbiategrasso school, the Minister of Education Valditara steps in and announces the presence of psychologists in schools to prevent acts of violence within the classrooms. ‘Permanent assistance to seriously ill students; a plan against abandonment in the South”. The Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, in an interview with Il Messaggero intervenes on the case of the attack on the teacher by a student and on the phenomenon of bullying: “Since that of Abbiategrasso is a particular episode , which has its own specificity, there is a problem of psychological discomfort, often linked to post-Covid. We have a work table at the ministry and a proposal is to establish a permanent and generalized psychological follow-up in favor of all those schools where there is a need, that is, where there are students who have highlighted critical issues, naturally in agreement with the families” .

On the phenomenon of dropping out of school, especially in the south, Valditara announces: “On Friday, in Calabria, I will present the Agenda Sud, which will combat the phenomenon. We’ll explain the details at a local press conference. This is a pilot project that starts with 150 schools selected through INVALSI assessments. A challenge to give children from the southern regions of the country the same opportunities for educational success, to unite Italy by bridging the gap between North and South, in terms of school dropout and specific skills. I can say that this time there will be dedicated resources». And speaking of the reorganization of the school he has in mind, the minister explains that “not a single school will be missing. To respond to the EU’s requests for rationalization, however, we are going to act in the unification of the presidencies and we are going to remove the minimum limit of 400 students in order to create school autonomy. It will be up to the Regions to organize themselves. We will give a school autonomy number to each Region, then the regional authorities will decide. Over 9 years, we will eliminate the current 866 regencies, merging 633. This rationalization will allow us to have a ‘treasury that will grow over the years, from 2.6 million euros in 2024 to 88 million in 2032 in savings: these savings will remain in the school system, in particular by improving the economic treatment of principals and administrative staff”.
