Mariano Angelucci, exponent of the Democratic Party and councilor of the Capitol, candidate for the secretariat of Lazio against regional councilor Daniele Leodori, suspends his candidacy. “Given the chaos with which the Lazio congress is being managed, I suspend myself from a competition in which the rules are changed in the race. I will evaluate whether I continue the race only after a clarification with the secretary Elly Schlein and the president Stefano Bonaccini that I hope will arrive today”, says Angelucci in a note.
“We are trying with all our heart to help renew the Lazio Democratic Party and the management team that has lost all possible competitions in recent years – continues Angelucci -. We have lost the national and regional elections, all the capitals and all the big cities. of Lazio excluding Roma Despite this, without assuming any responsibility towards our community, without any discussion, confrontation with the members, without any desire to step aside given the countless defeats, Leodori and all that management group that he governed and made all the political choices that led to these defeats he ran as a candidate for the government of the All Legitimate party but in all these years of militancy I learned that there is legitimacy and then there is political opportunity and a choice between personal good and the common good”.
In the long note, Angelucci explains that in Lazio “a congress route was decided upon which was modified without any explanation, thus humiliating all the members”. “All this in the silence, until now, of our secretary who has not said a word about the Lazio congress. This is the party he wants, which remains closed, in the hands of the current leaders”, writes the dem. “We don’t agree with that, we want discussion in circles, open debate, discussion along political lines about how to recover the lost consensus of citizens. They are not allowing us. But we are not going to be part of that way of doing it. I hope there is an immediate shake-up. Due to the enormous respect we have for our community, while we await clarification, we will participate in the discussions in the circles – he concludes – but as a sign of solidarity with the role of the members we will not participate in the vote and we ask that it be withdrawn without involving any choice “.
