The Election Observation Mission (MOE) on Monday requested that the National Electoral Council and the Office of the Attorney General launch a joint criminal and administrative investigation into the financing of Gustavo Petro’s campaign for Colombia’s presidency.
The foregoing – according to the electoral control entity – for the purpose of establishing the responsibilities that may arise with regard to the provenance and extent of the resources used in said campaign.
The request follows the release of some audio recordings in which former Colombian ambassador to Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, stated that about $15 billion was entered into President Gustavo Petro’s election campaign.
