There are no important figures within Elly Schlein’s new Democratic Party and the secretary clings to the past to try to revive the party. As Il Foglio reports, there is a desire to nominate Laurea Boldrini in the 2024 European elections. The former mayor, elected deputy for the latest policies, should take the place of Marta Bonafoni as leader in the central constituency of Italy. With Schlein’s supporter who, in return, should receive the promise of candidacy for the first supplementary elections to be held in the event of a vacancy in Parliament.
In recent weeks, it should be noted an unusual activism by Boldrini, very close to the new course of the Schlein brand, being in particular linked to Flavio Alivernini, current spokesperson for the secretariat and in the past one of the main collaborators of the president of Montecitorio. And behind Boldrini’s choice is also the will to stop the advance of the M5S.
