The Democratic Party is no longer the one conceived by Walter Veltroni in 2007. The concept expressed by Fabrizio Roncone, during the episode of “l’Aria Che Tira” broadcast by La7, is clear: with the arrival of Elly Schlein as secretary, and perhaps until much earlier, the Democrats are in a transition period that is taking a long time. And they lost their identity. The show’s host, Myrta Merlino, questioned the Corriere della Sera journalist about the latest internal feud in the party. That between the new leader and the son of the Governor of Campania, Piero De Luca, who was deprived of the position of deputy leader of the group (entrusted, amidst controversy, to Paolo Ciani), a maneuver that was harshly criticized by several other exponents.
“It’s incredible”, replied Roncone with the air of someone who has seen many, but not all. “When I got the news I thought I had read it wrong, but it was all true.” , instead of focusing on good opposition to the current center-right government, is melting like butter day after day: “Objectively, the Democratic Party is traveling on average one case a day. What happened can be defined as a case, but it is not the ‘only one’. The journalist also revealed a personal past: “Before that, I was in a taxi and I was talking to a senior leader of the Democratic Party. He was worried, and questioned whether this party could still be defined as such, and is no longer another What”.
It is always said that the Democratic Party is about to become something, but the distrust of this “highest executive”, commented Roncone, “is that it is no longer the matter that founded Veltroni”. In short, the image that emerges is that of a movement in which a lot of confusion reigns, and that doesn’t even try very hard to hide it.
