Reforms, Pnrr and direct election of the prime minister: Giorgia Meloni’s plan for Italy

Constitutional reforms, Prime Minister Meloni points to the direct election of Prime Minister. He talks about it during Bruno Vespa’s interview with “Forum in Masseria”. On the issue of constitutional reforms, Meloni also asks for the collaboration of the opposition. “There are two essential objectives: the Italians decide who governs”, because “governments are not made in the palace” and “the second element is the stability of the government”. These are the bets of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, interviewed by Bruno Vespa during the event “Forum in Masseria”. For Meloni “there has to be a direct election” of the prime minister. And on the reform model he added: “We are the homeland of the law. We don’t need to copy one from abroad, we can find our own.”

Then Meloni talks about the arrival of the third installment of Pnrr and does not lack a punch to the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein. “The Italians will judge our rules, our measures and also the pulpit” where the accusations of authoritarianism against the government come from, “which come from those who defend those who prevent a Minister of the Republic from presenting his book at the Book Fair. We are used to these scenes, but even more than those who want to prevent Roccella from presenting the book, it seems to me that the Secretary of the Democratic Party teaches us how to fight authoritarianism and says that we are allergic to dissent. If the secretary of the Democratic Party does not distinguish dissent from censorship, then yes we have an authoritarian problem».
