Ensuring a level playing field for candidates who meet the legal requirementsand regulating the political participation of civil servants are among the main objectives of Law 996 of 2005, or better known as the Law of Guarantees, which will enter into force in the country from today, June 29, in view of the Territorial elections 2023.

And it is with this date that the election calendar officially begins with the registration process of candidates for the various companies, that is, from June 29 to July 29, those who are endorsed by the various political parties or by important movements, by collecting signatures, should they make the official report before the National Civil Registry of their respective applications.
In accordance with Act 996 of 2005, a set of conducts is stipulated whereby officials or employees of the state are not allowed to participate in any form of election, be it presidential election, Congresslocal or atypical authorities.

Article 38 hereof statutestipulates that four months before the elections, senior officials of the municipal, departmental or district order, whether mayors, governors, secretaries and administrators or directors of decentralized entities, may not enter into intergovernmental agreements for the implementation of public resourcesparticipate in or promote, among other things, meetings with a conversion character.
