Justice, Nordio does not back down: “We will not hesitate, polemics based on prejudice”

“What I dislike is that controversies are often, if not always, based not on rational arguments and clear and distinct principles, but usually on emotional reactions or even prejudices.” Justice Minister Carlo Nordio is not so subtle in linking the video to a conference in Turin organized to remember the figure of lawyer Vittorio Chiusano twenty years after his death. Referring to the various justice reform proposals being studied by the government, he underlined that “controversies will be inevitable”, but the head of the Via Arenula Dicastery is not intimidated: “We will not waver and we will not hesitate to carry forward what was the work of Giuliano Vassalli. Anglo-Saxon accusatory proceedings conflict with some principles that are rooted in our Constitution, starting with the obligation of criminal prosecution”.

“In all Anglo-Saxon countries – Nordio’s conclusive technical explanation – they know criminal action only as discretionary, everyone knows that here it is no longer even discretionary, but has become arbitrary”. The minister is advancing quickly with his reform project.
