The Brothers of Italy remains the party most loved by Italians, but at the same time, recent political polls confirm that its share of the electorate is falling. As revealed in the latest SWG poll for La7 news, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s political formation is still the most popular in terms of voting intentions, even if it has dropped recently. However, he is not alone, especially in majority parties. Let’s see what today’s data says, 18 July 2023: Who will the Italians vote for?
Recent political polls: Meloni and Salvini are down, M5S is “floating”
In the latest poll by SWG, Fratelli d’Italia is still first-party but 0.1% less: now 28.7%. The decline in Matteo Salvini’s League is more significant, registering minus 0.2%, returning to 9.8%, ten percent below the “psychological” threshold. Among the majority powers, Forza Italia is smiling: growth under Antonio Tajani’s new leadership is 0.3%, which is 7.5%.
But while the majority is losing ground, the opposition is not taking advantage of it. Elly Schlein’s Democratic Party lost 0.4% in a week to 20.0%. For the Greens and Left alliance, the decline also drops to 3.1%, while +Europe is up 0.2% to 2.6%. Giuseppe Conte’s 5 Star Movement remains stable at 15.9% and has been “floating” around these percentages for months. Carlo Calenda’s share fell 0.2% to 3.4%, while Matteo Renzi’s Italia Viva rose 0.1% to 2.9%. It should be noted that the growth of Paragone party Per l’Italia rose 0.1% to 2.2%. Unione Popolare held steady at 1.8%.
