The umpteenth demonstration that only foreigners count for the left. And that forcing your hand, seeking confrontation with the center-right government, is becoming a practice. After the recognition of single-parent children, the city council of Florence reverted to the ius soli. And it did so by inserting an explicit reference in the Statute of the Municipality of Florence, with the aim of “promoting equality and effective participation without distinction of origin or provenance. A clear and declared objective, that of the Democratic Party, revealed in the agenda that has just been approved. An evident imposition, the result of an instrumental political scarcity on the one hand, of the evident need to raise the “flag” on the other. “An act that wants to respond to a question of civility, to give all the girls and boys who study, live, go to the same places as their Florentine peers, the same rights, the same prerogatives. – said Nicola Armentano, leader of the Pd group, the deputy leaders of the group Alessandra Innocenti and Letizia Perini, the councilor Donata Bianchi – Florence and Tuscany as a whole are welcoming lands, we want to return to a path that is in the DNA of our city and work to guarantee everyone the same rights and re”.
The leader of the Fratelli d’Italia group, Alessandro Draghi, has a completely different opinion. “Why didn’t the Democratic Party bring this act to the Commission sooner? After years of negotiations, to reach a unanimous vote on amending the Statute, each alignment had to present its will. But the Democratic Party led by Schlein could not ignore this issue and wanted to copy Bologna in the end”. Italia Viva’s reviews are also strong. “The PD, in an arrogant way, wanted to approve a follow-up agenda only on the ius – recalled Mimma Dardano and Barbara Felleca – A lack of respect and a confrontation that the PD had and could have avoided. That is why we chose not to vote on this agenda, waiting for a broader comparison and on the merits of the contents”. A wait that runs the risk of being long.
