Distinctions within the center-right continue over the right strategy for the 2024 European elections. Antonio Tajani, number one of Forza Italia, returns to speak, speaking to Il Giornale in view of the opening of the electoral campaign: “Forza Italia is the Ppe in Italy, in this we are different from the allies, we have our own identity and we do not want to compromise with anti-European forces. We are liberal and we want to be the cornerstone of Italian politics. Tajani then turns to bank taxes to reduce extra profits and help families with mortgages: “We are not against banks, above all we are thinking about cooperative and popular credit banks, we are working in the interests of savers. At the moment, the banks have to play their part on a global level, but it would be short-sighted and damaging to our economic system to hit them indiscriminately. For this you need to write the pattern well. The terrain – warns the blue national coordinator – is very delicate and there is no punitive spirit towards anyone. The revenues that are raised should be used to help citizens pay their mortgages, protect savings and use them to raise wages to make them really rich, to reduce the tax burden, to deduct thirteen, overtime and bonuses of production”. “The rule – reiterates Tajani – must be well written and it would have been better to do everything in closed markets, in any case we will monitor it in Parliament so that everything is done in the best possible way”.
