Nordio hits the left: “Pavlovian reflex”, forward with the reforms

The Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, speaks again in an interview with Corriere della Sera: “My extraordinary inspections can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Or a little more. It is true, however, that I announced inspections in cases of confidential interceptions, which fortunately have decreased in recent months. Perhaps also due to the effect of this dissuasion, which obviously works. However, to think that a minister who has been a prosecutor for 40 years becomes a ‘punisher’ of his colleagues is bizarre to say the least”, says the minister of Justice that abbreviated regarding the action against the prosecutors investigating Renzi: “I cannot speak about individual cases”.

Nordio denies that there are conflicts within the government: “I understand that politics is insidious and sometimes cruel, but I think it’s childish to invent non-existent conflicts, in the vain hope of making us nervous or maybe even fighting.” With Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, he adds, “we are in perfect harmony and we talk regularly”. As for the rumors about his possible resignation, he comments that “they are the Pavlovian reflection of those who fear the reforms we are preparing. Even in the recipe? “Yes, we are going to bring it back to substantive law, as a cause of extinction of the crime and not of inadmissibility: the solution, the reform of Minister Cartabia, which created enormous difficulties in application”. In short, the message is clear: the government is advancing in justice.
