Giorgia Meloni in Albania, in Tirana surprises Edi Rama’s blitz

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni interrupts her holiday in Puglia for a short surprise trip to Vlora. The Prime Minister chooses to spend a few hours on the opposite shore of the Adriatic, at the invitation of the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who receives her in his villa near the coastal city. An informal visit, which according to local media should last two days, which comes a few days after the debate sparked by Rama himself, who on social media had highlighted the tourist boom in his country, due in particular to the strong presence of Italians, comparing it to a “counter-exodus” compared to that of Albanians in the early 1990s.

Rama had, however, also underlined that he admired Giorgia Meloni and that he felt like a “brother of Italy”. So here, on the eve of August 15th, the Prime Minister displaces everyone and chooses to take a scheduled ferry, the “Principe”, for a private visit to her Albanian “friend”. Leaving the Ceglie Messapica farm, in the province of Brindisi, where she spends her holidays with her husband, daughter, sister Arianna and brother-in-law, the minister Francesco Lollobrigida, Meloni went with her family to the port of Brindisi to embark on the ferry. Arriving in Valona, he was received at the port by Rama himself (the local media published a video of the procession of cars) and a stopover in Albania for two days was planned.

The procession of the two prime ministers headed to the villa of the Albanian prime minister, where Meloni will stay for a private visit and a brief “appendix” to the Apulian vacation. Trying to leave the internal political debate behind for a few days, in recent days focused on the issue of the minimum wage, for which the united oppositions began to collect signatures reaching, as they announced, 100 thousand signatures on the dedicated platform, less than 24 hours and despite of the technical problems of the first hours due to the excess of accesses. The Prime Minister, after having entrusted the entire dossier to the Cnel, granting 60 days to arrive at a shared solution, decides to hang up at least on the 15th of August, going to see her Albanian counterpart for a few hours of relaxation, during which However, conversations about political issues that affect both sides of the Adriatic may be lacking.
