The holidays are over for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The prime minister will return to Rome in the next few hours, after a vacation spent with his family at the Ceglie Messapica farm in Apulia. Last stop at a pastry shop in the country that welcomed her in recent weeks, immortalized by a selfie with the staff on local social networks: iced coffee, almond paste and then onwards to the capital where the most important government dossiers await burning issues, starting with the law budget. A Council of Ministers meeting is scheduled for Monday, while the following week, September 4, a majority meeting is scheduled to take stock of the maneuver. An early return with some innovations also in the team that directs the Palazzo Chigi machine and that of the Brothers of Italy: Arianna Meloni, the prime minister’s sister, is the new head of the party’s political secretariat while undersecretary Giovanbattista Fazzolari will be in charge of coordinating the communication from the executive, the FdI and the parliamentary groups.

With her new position, Arianna Meloni becomes a central figure in the organizational chart of via della Scrofa, also because she is combined with the head of the ‘department of accessions’, or adhesion. A position of trust conquered on the ground and not only linked to the kinship with the prime minister, is pointed out by sources close to Meloni’s sister (as well as the wife of minister Francesco Lollobrigida), who underline how “being Giorgia’s sister over the years years penalized and not facilitated by Arianna, as both entered politics together in 1992”. As for Fazzolari, it will not be an official appointment, but rather an informal mission entrusted by Meloni to the Undersecretary of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers responsible for executing the program: according to what has been ascertained, he will be responsible for the reorganization of the structure of communication with the The objective is to reach a strengthening and functioning of the machine, establishing better communication tasks and guidelines. However, the choice is not linked to the imminent departure of Mario Sechi from Palazzo Chigi, who will step down as head of the press office.

The first Council of Ministers after the summer break is scheduled for Monday. The agenda has not yet been made official but – as it turns out – it is not excluded that we start thinking about the main knots of the maneuver. Since the first rumors about the figures, just under 10 billion euros would be available, which would barely cover the confirmation of the reduction in the tax burden, supported by all the majority forces. Then there would be the increase in minimum pensions to 700 euros intended by Forza Italia and the ‘Cota 41’ proposed by the League. In addition to any other support measures for families and companies to calm the effects of inflation, high energy prices and skyrocketing fuel prices: a bill that could be around 30 billion, whose collection the opposition fears will be penalized in health and in education. A ‘macro’ assessment could already be made on Monday at the CDM, before the “majority meeting with the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, on the maneuver.
