A whole political commotion has been caused by the statements of the representative to the Agmeth Escaf Chamber during the inauguration of the headquarters of the Historic convention in Barranquillawhere the congressman talked about the support the Historical Pact to the candidacy by Alfredo Varela to the Atlantic Governorate.

“By a directive from the President, also signed by the Secretary General who is here with me, Dr. Carmen, it is indicated that we accept the candidacy of Dr. Alfredo Varelado not give Edward Summer: Alfredo Varela. There can be no one, outside the order of these parties signing the agreement, who works for other candidacies, directly or under the table,” he said, apparently referring to the President of the Republic Gustavo Petro, top leader of that coalition.
This has created controversy in the political sector, because if it is true that Escaf correctly referred to the president, Petro would be joining the fray, which is a improper participation in politics.
In addition, he said that this resolution was signed by Anachury as director of the Human Colombia, one of the banks that make up the Historical Pact.
One of the first reactions came from Veronica Patino, who announced his candidacy for governor after the historic pact mess left his sentimental partner, Máximo Noriega, without support. In his Twitter account he stated: “Today I manifest myself before the unfortunate intervention of the representative in the Chamber Agmeth Escaf, where he libelously compromises President Gustavo Petro and obscures my candidacy for Governor of the Atlantic”.
He assured that Escaf “cannot harm that project that we have built by saying that our president indicates that we are voting for Alfredo Varela. This is completely false and also dangerous for our president because he cannot participate in conversion.”
