Matteo Salvini silences left-wing controversies with a few shots and a joke. Esselunga’s announcement caused discussion and divided Italian politics. If the majority defined the promotional video as “moving”, the opposition criticized and pointed the finger at the alleged exploitation of children’s feelings. The deputy prime minister and leader of the League today published two photographs showing him shopping in Esselunga with a trolley full of bags. But not only. Salvini also immortalized himself by taking chestnuts out of boxes.
This is the caption that accompanies the post: “The peaches are over but… lots of things, including chestnuts. Beautiful Sundays at Esselunga!”. What Salvini wrote obviously refers to the supermarket chain’s commercial that inflamed the media and political parties. The position of deputy prime minister immediately attracted a reaction from Carlo Calenda. “Dear Matteo, don’t bother us and go to work. Part two”, wrote the leader of Action, proposing again in X the shots that sent him into a tailspin.
