Brothers from Italy hit the left on health: the Tuscan case breaks out

A continuous, repetitive attack devoid of any semblance of a more basic proposal. Elly Schein’s new mantra is to point the finger at the government led by Giorgia Meloni for its management of public health. Create alarmism, about alleged cuts and a right to health that, according to the Democratic secretary, would be “at risk”. A series of (questionable) statements, to which deputy Alessandro Amorese responded. The exponent of Fratelli d’Italia reminded progressives of the poor health management in a region that has always been red: Tuscany.

“The Democratic Party, which today points the finger at the Meloni Government by resorting to falsehoods about health spending in 2023, which instead increases by more than 3.6 billion compared to 2022, forgets the paradigm of its own failure in management of money allocated to the health system: the Apuano and Lunigiana territories. Reconstructing the last decades of left-wing regional administrations, we witness the dismemberment of the Carrara hospital, the so-called Monobloco and the consequent poor organization of intermediate healthcare. The Tuscany Region had a protocol with the local authority and the local health authority to rebuild and rethink it, but all this never happened. Furthermore, we are still literally dealing with the million-dollar hole of the local health authority of Massa Carrara, whose political responsibility is as evident as that of the Region, although no one has ever paid that bill. Namely, the abandonment, for years, of the health service in Lunigiana, a land for which the institutions have never committed themselves, thus condemning it to borders that are not just geographic. Precisely in these days, the news finally leads us to the threat of a new dismemberment, that of the central health district of Massa, about whose fate, at this moment, we have not received serious answers”.
