CDM, significant increases for 1.2 million workers
The Meloni government keeps its promises. Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit, at the end of this morning’s Council of Ministers meeting to approve the Budget, claimed respect for what was said months ago about improvements for school workers: “This year’s budget law allocates 5 billion euros from 2024 onwards for the renewal of public employment contracts: a substantial part of these resources will go to the education sector, which has around 1.2 million workers. A result of which, in a complicated financial context, we are particularly proud, because it allows us to protect and improve the salaries of all school staff with significant increases, and to do so quickly, as we had requested”.
“The first action taken at the beginning of my mandate last October was – recalls Valditara – precisely to renew the school contract, which expired in 2021, with the commitment to quickly renew it for the following three-year period as well. Thanks to the effort of the entire government, the budget law allocated the necessary resources to achieve the objective.” “ATA managers, teachers and employees play a decisive role in the growth of our young people and the development of the country. The resources allocated to renewing the contract confirm the centrality that the school has for the government in the Italian system. Authority and respect – concludes the minister – go first and foremost through economic recognition”.
