Government representatives call for help to the cabinet: Israel should stop the violence

A group of government officials want the Dutch cabinet to “stop Israel and protect innocent civilians” as soon as possible. “Let’s not watch a humanitarian disaster unfold,” they write.

The call, signed almost 267 times by officials from all ministries, condemns Hamas’ “disgusting” attacks on innocent Israeli civilians. However, they describe Israel’s response in Gaza as “disproportionate” and “excessive”.

According to reports in Telegraaf, the call is in the hands of NOS. Officials write that they are concerned about the unconditional support of the international community, including the Dutch cabinet, for Israel.

Officials argue that Israel has a history of frequently violating international rules and ignoring UN resolutions, and believe the “extreme violence” must be stopped immediately. “We don’t have a second to lose”

Civil servants employed by the government believe that the attitude of the Dutch government makes them complicit in the crime. “We cannot put this on our conscience and we do not want to,” he said.

They call on the government to make “the greatest efforts” and use all diplomatic channels to gain influence over Israel itself, the European Union, the United States and the UN Security Council. “Call for de-escalation, ensure dialogue, do everything to achieve lasting peace.”
