Family members of Israelis kidnapped or killed by Hamas had breakfast with outgoing Prime Minister Rutte in The Hague this morning. He accepted these in his ministry.
Den Hoedt, President of the Hostages and Missing Persons Family Forum, spoke of a warm and emotional conversation. According to him, Rutte promised his interlocutors that he would continue to work for the missing not only on behalf of the Netherlands, but also in the European context. “The return of the hostages is his top priority,” Den Hoedt said.
“These are people who were driven from their homes by the terrorist organization. You should come back. This is the support we have without any guarantees,” Den Hoedt added.
“We’re here to put a face to personal destiny,” said one of five family members who joined the conversation. The Dutch were not the only ones among them. Each family member told their personal story.
One of them mentioned a deceased cousin who was throwing a party today where he would DJ. “There was an invitation to tonight’s party on his computer. And he was killed.”
