The demonstration on Saturday, November 4, in Milan, called by Matteo Salvini, will be “peaceful and silent”, as explained by the deputy prime minister and leader of the League. But above all it will be “open to everyone, Italians and foreigners, friends of freedom and rights, not willing to give up any more space to Islamic fanatics and extremists”. However, there are those who consider this a “fart”. This is precisely the term used yesterday morning by the imam of Segrate Ali Abu Shaima, who spoke to L’Aria which brings up La7. The religious leader of the mosque in the province of Milan considers that a demonstration in defense of the West, such as the one organized by the League in the name of Oriana Fallaci, is a mistake. «Those who want to fuel the struggle for civilizations have not understood anything – says the imam – And they do not even serve the interests of Europe and the West. I tell Salvini to take an interest in the problems that Italy has and the Italians have, instead of doing this nonsense.”
The journalist next to him insists: “So it shouldn’t be done?” Answer: «Why do you think it is good?». Furthermore, according to his reasoning, taking to the streets in defense of the West goes against the values of the European Union and the Italian Constitution. The League leader’s response arrives via social media: «Europe that defends Israel is against the Constitution, marches can be held for Palestine, but those against Islamic terrorism cannot. The League’s demonstration on November 4th in Milan is a “farce”. Thoughts and words of the Imam of Segrate, evidently allergic to Western rights and freedoms. Amen”. In his television appearance, Ali Abu Shaima also said something about Europe: “Unfortunately he took a position with Israel without looking at what is happening in Gaza, with children and women being bombed”. No condemnation of the action Hamas terrorist, beheaded children and young people murdered at raves. Segrate’s imam is no stranger to tours of this kind. In the aftermath of the attack on Israel, again on the same program, when asked about Hamas, he said: “It was classified for you, for Italy, for Europe as a terrorist organization, that’s why they shut everyone’s mouth” about the possibility of “giving those opinions”, so “you can’t ask me this question. Is Hamas a problem for the Palestinians or not? ”
Theories of this type are not isolated. After the Hamas attacks on October 7, pro-Palestinian demonstrations multiplied both in Europe and in Italy. Initiatives with slogans against Israel and the right to exist of the Jewish State are on the agenda. It is precisely against this trend that the League decided to organize the demonstration in Milan, which will take place on Saturday in Largo Cairoli. In an interview with Il Tempo on October 18th, Salvini explained the reasons that led him to call him: «Among the many demonstrations that praise Islam, Hamas, we think of November 4th, a day not chosen by chance (it’s National Unity and Armed Forces Day, ed.), to regain pride in a culture that is tolerant but not willing to commit suicide.” The crux of the matter is here. The value of freedom and tolerance is shared by everyone or is there someone who contests and opposes it? And, above all, do those who take to the streets for the Palestinian people also condemn the terrorist acts of Hamas? If we look at what has happened in recent days, with the Anne Frank posters wrapped in keffiyeh and the anti-Zionist chants in the square peppered with insults and threats towards Israel, the suspicion that someone is trying to raise the level of tension is more than concrete.
