The majority reaches agreement at the lunchtime summit at Palazzo Chigi, both on the financial measure, which it can approve in Parliament, and on the institutional reforms whose text will be on the agenda of the next Council of Ministers scheduled for Friday. The Presidency of the Council itself announced the happy result: «From the meeting emerged the great compactness and determination of the majority forces that made it possible to launch a financial maneuver marked by the seriousness and solidity of public accounts, which despite the difficult context manages to reduce fiscal pressure on the class low average, to support families and workers. As expected, today the text will be sent to Parliament, after the necessary writing and authorization signature from the Head of State.
The majority forces confirmed their desire to move quickly with the approval of the Budget Law, without presenting any changes”. However, Palazzo Chigi guarantees that «the government will pay great attention to the parliamentary debate and the considerations of the majority and opposition forces». From the meeting, extended to the Minister of Reforms, Elisabetta Casellati, «arose full agreement with the constitutional reform project that provides for the direct election of the Prime Minister. The text of the bill will be analyzed by the Council of Ministers scheduled for Friday, November 3rd”, highlights another note from Palazzo Chigi. The text should also include the suspension of the appointment of new senators for life, with the exception of outgoing presidents of the Republic. The measure is an old IDE workhorse, which seems to have found space in the text. Green light also given to the “anti-tip” rule. The norm in question, one of the most delicate of the entire reform, would provide, in the event of the “fall” of the prime minister elected by the people, the possibility of trying to rebuild the majority again either with the same prime minister or in any case with another exponent of the same majority chosen by citizens by vote. Only in the case of failed attempts, therefore, is there a return to the polls.
Forza Italia was satisfied, whose short-term rental proposal was accepted: «The positive result of today’s meeting confirmed the desire to move quickly, without presenting changes, towards the approval of the measure that reduces taxes for millions of Italians, underlines In a note from the Azzurri, Forza Italia thanked the acceptance of its requests, some of which will be included in the decree relating to the maneuver, already under analysis by Parliament. In particular, the establishment of the National Identification Code (Cin), mandatory for short-term rentals and offers through IT platforms. The benefits obtained with the emergence, quantified at more than one billion, are intended to reduce the tax burden; the flat tax remains at 21% for the first short-term rental apartment. Of the second – registered with the same owner – this increases to 26%; the government – the note finally explains – was in charge of analyzing the financing of Rai public television, to support the company’s three-year industrial plan to relaunch the company”. «Everything was resolved in the best way» summarizes the deputy prime minister and number one of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, upon leaving the summit, both on the maneuver and on institutional reforms: «We agree with the text on the reform, which will be presented to the next Council of Ministers” confirms Tajani.
