On the issue of the independent parliamentary groups of Action and Italia Viva, Senate President Ignazio La Russa also raises his hand and postpones everything until next Tuesday, at 1 pm. «It has never happened that the president has been asked to resolve an issue of this type, there is a previous means in which they resorted to self-declaration, the litigation commission, a precedent that involved the 5-Star Movement.” But not even in that precedent was the president of the Senate to resolve the issue, and La Russa’s difficulty also derives from the fact that each of his decisions would “create a precedent”.
Therefore, at this moment, La Russa preferred to postpone everything until Tuesday, in the hope that the two parties will reach an agreement. In the absence of an agreement, there are two possibilities: either contact the bodies considered suitable to resolve the issue or the issue is resolved by the president of the Senate, who is also president of the Regulation Council.
The senators will support him: Gian Marco Centinaio and Erika Stefani from the League, Silvia Fregolent from Italia Viva, Andrea Giorgis and Dario Parrini from the Democratic Party, Guido Quintino Liris, Francesco Zaffini and Lucio Malan from Fratelli d’Italia, Stefano Patuanelli from 5 Star Movement and Roberto Rosso from Forza Italia. After the single party between Italia Viva and Azione failed, Calenda decided, however, to carry out the Third Pole project to put an end to the “season of bipolarism that destroyed the country”.
No broad field, neither with the Democratic Party nor with the Five Star Movement, but above all no “conspiracy party”, so much so that Calenda told his followers: “If anyone thought of joining a conspiratorial party that is with the Five Stars if they win the M5S and with the right, if the right wins, it’s wrong. You all have these parties around, go there.” For the event at the Teatro Eliseo, in Rome, the leader of Action also invited members of the opposition and the government, such as undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano and ministers Elisabetta Casellati and Carlo Nordio. “It’s a point of contact – explained Calenda because politics cannot just be the noise of one person against another”.
With the Action Assembly, the Third Pole project begins again, which will also count on the contribution of former Iv Elena Bonetti and Ettore Rosato. Even if the past returns in the words of Calenda, who repeats the mantra “the Third Pole with Italia Viva did not materialize because of Renzi” even if he shows indifference regarding the separation of the groups. «I don’t care, for me the groups are already dissolved. The political relationship with Italia Viva has already been resolved, but the need to build a calm, pragmatic and radically reforming force that overcomes the barriers of the Second Republic has not been resolved.” With regard to the European elections, “we will turn to other parties and movements that militate within Alde-Renew, which is the formation of European liberals and democrats”, the same reference group as the Renzianos.
