Casellati, Vespa twist: proof that they “lie”, left buried

Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati proves her detractors wrong: the Head of State will not be weakened by her constitutional reform. The premier’s godmother, a guest on Rai 1 of Bruno Vespa’s Cinque Minuti, clears the air of doubt – Constitution in hand.

And he does so at the beginning of his speech on the main public television network. To Vespa’s question “Why are we talking about weakening the Head of State?”, the minister replies: “It’s a useless exploration. They say this knowing they are lying.” The attack on critics of the reform who see the role of prime minister as dismantling the powers of the head of state is evident.

Then he takes the Constitution and after leafing through it, aided by some post-its, he highlights: “These are the articles that concern the head of State and the articles were not touched”. But not only that, comments the former president of the Senate: “These concern all prerogatives – Casellati indicates the other articles of our constituent charter reserved for the president of the republic – they remained intact”, he highlights with a smile for the camera. The doubts have been resolved.
