In the Italian political scene, the presence of social networks has assumed an increasingly significant role in shaping the image and popularity of politicians. In October 2013, Comscore provided a detailed ranking of the social media interactions and video views of some of Italy’s most influential politicians. Let’s see who dominated the scene during that period. Matteo Salvini confirms himself as the King of Social Media: the deputy prime minister, minister and leader of the League positioned himself at the top of the ranking with 6.7 million interactions and 17.7 million video views.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni came in second place with 3.3 million interactions and 13.3 video views. Giuseppe Conte, political leader of the 5 Star Movement, closes the podium with 2.4 million interactions and 12.2 million video views.
Surprise in fourth place where ex-M5 Alessandro Di Battista is. MEP Silvia Sardone occupies fifth place, with 1.9 million interactions and 21.1 million video views. Followed by the governor of Veneto Luca Zala, the leader of Pela Italia Gianluigi Paragone, then again Vincenzo De Luca, Carlo Calenda, Susanna Ceccardi and Matteo Renzi. Far behind the Democratic Party leaders. Stefano Bonaccini, Bly Schlein, Eugenio Giani occupy the positions from twelfth to fourteenth. Closes the Undersecretary of Culture, Vittorio Sgarbi.
