Minister of Institutional Reform Casellati’s children, Alvise and Ludovica, are under investigation on charges of tax evasion on charges of using fake invoices. The news broke as follows: Corriere della Sera. According to the newspaper, the announcement regarding the conclusion of the investigations was recently made by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office. The charge relates to an amount considered as “fictitious passive elements” with a total value of less than 15,000 euros.
The investigation revolves around the activities of financial promoter Domenico Angiollella and his wife, who are accused of malicious financial intermediation. The invoices in question, proposed by Angiolella, were to be used by Minister Casellati’s children in the 2022 and 2023 VAT returns to financially “collect” the costs paid to the same entrepreneur due to the activities of their managers in his company. It emerged – the newspaper rewrites – as a response to his “search for sponsors” for sole ownership of his son’s law firm and his daughter’s software company, the newspaper says. On the contrary, the Casellati family claims that Angiolella lost almost all of the savings he allegedly defrauded his children, and the minister denies having any knowledge of the (uninvestigated) fake invoices.
“After learning about the situation from the documents they received a few days ago, they immediately took steps to correct the modest amounts of tax violations for which they were accused before the Internal Revenue Service,” said Ernesto De Toni, Casellati’s children’s advocate. and “They will soon go to the Prosecutor’s Office to explain the relationship with Angiolella”. The lawyer reiterated that the minister “played no role” in the incident, that “the fake financial backer’s interest in involving him in his own illegal purposes was clear”, and that “from the documents it was seen that Angiolella defrauded hundreds of people”. The totals are very relevant.”
Angiolella’s defender, Alessandro Brustia, explained that no one filed the necessary complaint to prosecute possible fraud, a crime that prosecutors did not actually object to. At this point, Casellati’s children’s lawyer announced that they were “preparing their complaint.”
