“I’m going to Atreju because they invited me to talk about justice, I’m going willingly, without any problems. I would have gone to the Unity party to talk about the Employment Law, but they didn’t invite me there…”. This is how Matteo Renzi announced his presence at the event organized by Fratelli d’Italia. The senator and leader of Italia Viva stated this in a video conference with Metropolis, a web talk from the Gedi group. Democratic Party Secretary Elly Schlein, however, following rumors circulating about her alleged about-face, reiterated what she had previously stated: “I refused to go to Atreju. I have no doubts about this decision. We want to have a discussion in Parliament. So that doesn’t mean that there can’t be a discussion about some specific issues, such as gender-based violence.”
