Minister of Foreign Affairs Uslu is leaving the family company Corendon

The outgoing Minister of State, Günay Uslu, is leaving his post. His brother’s company returns to Corendon. He left this company at the beginning of 2022 to become Minister of State for Culture and Media at D66.

Uslu will leave his post at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tomorrow and will begin his duty as the CEO of the family company of which he is one of the founders, on December 11. He writes in a letter that he did not make this decision lightly. “Although I would very much like to complete this trip with this cabinet, Corendon made a very urgent call to me.”

The air travel company’s current CEO left the company for personal reasons, and Uslu says he felt an obligation to replace him.

Outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte responds to X:

D66 leader Rob Jetten also thinks that Uslu’s resignation is a shame. “He is very popular and has done great work in the cultural and media sectors, but he has been commissioned by the family business and I respect that.”

Due to his cultural scientist background, D66 asked Uslu to be the Minister of State Responsible for Culture. He received his doctorate as a cultural historian from the University of Amsterdam and worked in museums.

behavior problems

In his political career, he dealt with, among other issues, transnational behavior in the world of television. This began the same month that BOOS was tasked with reporting on abuses on The Voice.

Earlier this week Omroep decided not to revoke the broadcasting license of Ongehoord Nederland (ON). The NPO submitted a relevant application to him in April but, according to him, there is currently “little legal basis to make such a far-reaching decision”.

The Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Robbert Dijkgraaf, will initially take over Uslu’s duties. A new Minister of Foreign Affairs from D66 is being sought for the remaining term of the Rutte IV cabinet.
