Femicides, where do we start to eliminate this dramatic plague? Vittorio Feltri also talks about this in his column published on December 2nd in Il Giornale. “Salvation depends on work, that is, on material and economic autonomy that also translates into emotional independence – writes Feltri – The emancipation of the female gender necessarily involves the acquisition of full financial autonomy… Girls fight even harder to do it our way, perhaps we need to break an anachronistic mentality, which penalizes the weaker sex in the professional field.”
Then Feltri points the finger at Islamic fundamentalism, the true executioner of women around the world. “However, this is not the dominant mentality and it is certainly not an issue of ‘rape culture’ – continues Feltri – which, if anything is in place, where women are forced to cover themselves, they are mutilated so that they cannot feel any pleasure during sexual intercourse, girls are forced into marriage and deprived of the right to study and personal freedom. In Islamic countries, women are conceived as objects of use and consumption by men. In Italy this is repugnant to us .”
