Migrant agreement with Albania: First green light given

Even now, the first green light has only been given by the Council of Ministers to the draft law regarding the approval of the controversial protocol signed between Italy and Albania regarding the acceptance of immigrants rescued by our country on the other side of the Adriatic. The Rome judiciary will have jurisdiction over appeals by immigrants detained in facilities provided in Albania. In Albania, meetings between migrants and their advocates will be held via video link, while the exchange of documents will take place via certified email. This is also foreseen in the text approved today by the Council of Ministers implementing the migration agreement signed with Albania. Video conferencing is also planned for hearings with Rome judges who will decide on appeals submitted by immigrants, starting with the rejection of asylum requests.
