The government majority rejects the opposition’s attempt to rewrite the text on the minimum wage approved by the Chamber’s Labor Committee on the minimum wage. And the left goes to the barricades. With 111 votes in favor and 149 against (3 abstentions), the amendment signed by Giuseppe Conte, Nicola Fratoianni and Angelo Bonelli, Matteo Richetti, Elly Schlein and Riccardo Magi was rejected. Therefore, the delegation to the government regarding workers’ compensation and collective bargaining, approved last week by the Labor Commission, which effectively undermines the minimum wage, continues. The leader of the 5 Star Movement even tore up the text in the Chamber: “President Meloni and the government threw away the mask. The majority turned their backs on 3.6 million workers, who declared they were ashamed of the condition they found themselves in with starvation wages. We, however, believe that today those who should be ashamed are those who voted no to this law, which was torn to pieces. With this type of enabling law, this entire group of workers. They will not carry out this treacherous gesture in my name and in the name of M5S. For this reason I withdraw my signature from this provision, because they are wasting the legal minimum wage”, said the former prime minister who also governed with the Democratic Party, without the issue of the minimum wage ever being raised…
Conte was the first signatory. But as the amendment said, the name of the secretary of the Democratic Party was also included. “It is no longer the opposition’s minimum wage proposal. The majority emptied our proposal with their usual arrogance”, said Elly Schlein when announcing the withdrawal of her signature after the Chamber rejected the opposition’s amendment to re-propose a minimum wage of 9 euros per hour in the delegation to the Government regarding the worker remuneration and collective bargaining, as well as control and information procedures. The gesture was followed by all PDL subscribers.
