Scala, Cgil and Anpi slip up in the first one. They protest because they don’t want La Russa

A stance out of time and logic on the occasion of the debut at La Scala tonight. A slide down one of the most iconic staircases in our artistic heritage. The representatives of the CGIL and the Anpi section of the theater will not participate in the greeting that the institutional offices – this year led by the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa – normally give during the intermission of the Prima della Scala to the artists and a representation of the workers. In a statement, RSA and RLS, CGIL and ANPI announced that they will not participate “in any institutional salute ceremony addressed to those who never condemned fascism, its colonial wars, the alliance and subjection to Nazism that generated racial laws and much mourning and misery for the Italian people.”

During yesterday afternoon there was some controversy regarding the authorities’ logistical arrangements. They were called by the mayor of Milan, Beppe Sale, who said he would sit in the audience with Liliana Segre. Then, however, clarity was made. The lifelong senator will be seated in the front row of the stage of honor, with the President of the Senate and Mayor Sala next to her. Segre will be accompanied by her daughter Federica Belli Paci, while La Russa and Sala by their respective spouses. «The case ended as President La Russa expected – explain sources from Palazzo Madama – who already yesterday, from the stage in Piazza del Popolo, hoped that the senator for life would be able to take the stage to give a sign of attention and closeness to Israel at this time” .
