A fire broke out last night at the hospital in Tivoli, a town on the outskirts of Rome. Four people died. The flames were put out, but the hospital had to be evacuated because it was full of smoke. At the time of the fire, the facility contained 134 patients, including seven children and several newborns, all of whom were transferred to other hospitals. We hope that the investigations will clarify as quickly as possible the causes that led to the fire”, he continued. Meanwhile, the testimony of Paolo Gabrielli, a patient in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the San Giovanni Evangelista hospital, in Tivoli, who caught fire last night : “I was in the Department of Emergency Medicine when I smelled a strong smell of burning plastic. I went out and the smell was stronger. Then the power went out and we were completely in the dark. Of the 12 hospitalized, 2 of us were able to walk and we tried to help the others, but then they forced us to leave because it was dangerous,” he said.
