Giuseppe Conte invokes the “moral question” and launches a “final appeal” to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to “finally make clear decisions” on the “conduct” of government members “involved in criminal proceedings”. The M5 leader did so in an open letter published in the newspaper La Repubblica entitled “President Meloni, it is a moral issue. Delmastro, Sgarbi and Santanchè at home” After having reviewed the cases involving undersecretaries Andrea Delmastro (Justice) and Vittorio Sgarbi (Culture) and the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanché, Conte also cites the Frecciarossa episode that involved the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida.
Responses from some of those directly involved were quick to arrive. Undersecretary of Culture Vittorio Sgarbi responds: “’Giuseppiì Conte, of whom we don’t know a thought, an idea, a book, at the head of a party whose founder pays to insult him.” “Before talking about my consultancy – says Sgarbi – deal with yours: from the Retelit case to the Acqua Marcia Spa case. The real moral issue is your presence in this Parliament”, said Sgarbi. Minister Santanchè is concise: “I send a kiss to Conte”.
Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, a guest at the Adnkronos Forum, commented on leader Grillino’s appeal: “Content raising moral questions is a bit surreal. . Delmastro was brought to trial with the Public Prosecutor’s Office requesting not to send him to trial, which gives me an idea of how it could end. Santanchè doesn’t seem to me to have anything judicial, Sgarbi – except for some investigations carried out by someone – I also don’t believe there is anything judicial about him. So should he resign because of newspaper articles written by newspapers friendly to Conte? Conte has a good idea of democracy…”.
