In the graphics, the grandeur of Hadrian’s Mausoleum is above the inscription: «Welcome back, Italian Pride». The 2023 edition of Atreju, a traditional Fratelli d’Italia event, will take place at Castel Sant’Angelo from Thursday to Sunday. The event was presented yesterday afternoon, at a press conference at the party headquarters, in via della Scrofa, by the organization’s manager Giovanni Donzelli in the presence, among the directors, of the leaders of the groups in the Chambers Tommaso Foti and Lucio Malan. A party that arrives a few weeks after the first candle of the Meloni government was extinguished and which will also see the “thematic section” of the next holidays proposed again, between the Christmas Village and the solidarity market. «It is a party of discussion, of one party and not of the party – emphasizes Donzelli – We try to deal with those who have ideas different from ours. On this occasion there will be no shortage of comparisons, regardless of ideas and political affiliations. The entire government with all ministers was invited,” he explains.
Regarding the traditional tendency to welcome party leaders from different sides, PD leader Elly Schlein’s “no” has dominated in recent weeks. On this point, Donzelli observes: «We don’t think much about the problem. Neither expectation nor disappointment. We made an invitation because we thought it was a good opportunity. We respected a choice and there was no problem. It was a political choice.” Returning to the parterre, it will be transversal, not only in political geography, but also because it will draw on exponents from worlds outside politics. Therefore, the coach of the national football team, Luciano Spalletti, will be present. And again Big names such as businessman Flavio Briatore (who will participate in a panel on tourism with minister Daniela Santanché) and chef Gianfranco Vissani will take the stage. And again conductor Beatrice Venezi will be present. As for politics, this edition highlights the international scope. Santiago Abascal, leader of the Spanish identity party Vox, will arrive at Castel Sant’Angelo. Abascal, in the last few hours, sparked a very harsh controversy with Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez, evoking him in Piazzale Loreto. “We do not interfere in the internal politics of other nations.
This means having good institutional relationships. Italy and Spain are nations that collaborate, that are friends as institutions, each has its own internal policy”, says Donzelli. Then there is the wait for the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, as well as the “closed letters” of the program. At the moment, says Donzelli «we are not going to reveal the complete program, there will be a surprise guest that we will announce in the next few hours, two other guests, also for international reasons, will be announced between today and Thursday». In recent weeks, the name of English Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been bandied about. As for national political representatives, the two presidents of the Chambers, La Russa and Fontana, will be present. Matteo Renzi (who will discuss justice) and Carlo Calenda will come from the opposition. Former PD deputy Paola Concia will also participate. Closed on Sunday. In the first part there will be the vice-presidents of the Council, leaders of Lega and Forza Italia respectively, Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani. The event was closed, as usual, by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at noon
