So much talk for nothing. The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in her response to the Senate with a view to the next European Council, immediately extinguished the controversy over her words spoken in the Chamber, with the left placing her at the center of the controversy for supposed criticism of the former Prime Minister Minister Draghi: “Everyone knows what I think of Mario Draghi, particularly the firmness that Mario Draghi had on the Ukrainian issue with a majority that was very difficult to manage from this point of view. What I was trying to explain is that the firmness that was demonstrated cannot be resolved with the photo on the train with the French and the Germans, there was no attack. I took the same train to go to Kiev, but there was an Italy that in the past felt that its whole role was to wait to see what France and Germany were doing and go along, hoping to get a photograph. I don’t think this is foreign policy, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have good relations with France, with Germany, that I don’t have my photos with Orban, with Scholz, with Macron, with anyone. “
Another passage to Palazzo Madama is that of Mes. “There are those who deny that the Conte government secretly gave its consent to the reform of the ESM treaty, I understand the difficulty”, with Meloni taking to the Chamber a fax with the signature of Luigi Di Maio that authorized the modification of the treaty. «This signature was made the day after the resignation of the Conte government, it was made when the government resigned, in charge of current affairs, against the opinion of Parliament, without warning the Italians, without showing off and in favor of darkness. I understand the embarrassment but there is no way to escape the story, you can make propaganda but then there are the papers that demonstrate the lack of seriousness of a government that in silence, before packing the boxes, left this package for the next government”, control of the position of the leader of the Brothers of Italy.
Finally, Meloni removes some stones from his shoe regarding the Pnrr issue: “We must be, and I am very proud, of the work carried out in the Pnrr, a work that we have done despite the issue of a possible revision of the Plan to adapt it to a changed context, resolving some critical issues that were in the plans adopted by previous governments, despite being considered an impossible hypothesis or discarded as a crazy choice that would have made us lose Pnrr resources, would have taken Italy out of Europe in a distorted and destructive story that does not claim the role of Italy, what we can achieve with a little pragmatism and common sense. We showed that, if done well, things can be achieved – insisted Meloni -. There was more support for Italy not getting the third installment than for Davis Cup. Despite everything, we obtained the third, fourth and by the end of the year we will deliver the objectives of the fifth and review the Plan.”
