Pasquale Tridico towards candidacy for the European elections. Giuseppe Conte finally admits, the former INPS president is among those eligible for a place on the 5 Star Movement list in the June vote. For the next European elections “our logic is that of self-nomination. Any of our activists has the possibility of running and we will try to rely on internal consensus based on the votes”, said the president of M5s as a guest of “Il rosso e il black” on Rai Radio 1. “There will be some external corruption. We did that in the last political elections and it worked”, said Conte again, who confirmed: “Tridico can be a candidate for the European elections”.
Tridico, economist and professor, was director of the IPS from 2019 to 2023, identified with the 5-star zone, protagonist of the era of citizen income, totem of government land grabbing. His candidacy would thus represent a message to voters about the battle over state subsidies. During the interview, Conte also spoke about the co-founder of the 5 Star Movement, Beppe Grillo. While the debate on combating gender violence is at the center of attention, following the femicide of Giulia Cecchettin, the former people’s lawyer is invited to comment on Beppe’s attack on lawyer Giulia Bongiorno, Che tempo che fa, at the trial against his son Ciro Grillo for sexual violence. Was it inappropriate? “It’s a complex subject, I hope no one finds themselves in that situation. The father’s reasons certainly prevailed…” Conte told the Genoese comedian, addressing “first and foremost his best wishes for a speedy recovery, he had a bit of health problems, o’ I hear, he’s getting over it and recovering.”
