Atreju, Rama defends agreement on migrants: “It is not unconstitutional, confidence in the appeal”

Strong defense of the agreement between Italy and Albania on migrants. The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, speaking today in Atreju, calmed the controversy that arose after the rejection by the High Court of his country, which suspended the agreement: «It seems to me that there has been a disproportionate noise about a very natural agreement between two countries with different names but which are part of the same people. It is not unconstitutional, I am confident in the outcome of the appeal filed by the Albanian opposition to the Constitutional Court that blocked the ratification of the agreement by the Tirana Parliament. We calmly await the decision. The Court fulfilled its duty by accepting the appeal, this is proof that Albania is a democratic country.”

Rama then said that he hopes the Constitutional Court will make a decision quickly: «March is the deadline, but I believe and I am confident that the decision will be much sooner because it is a very important agreement between two states, both governments must know if they can move forward. or not without wasting a lot of time.” Regarding the appeal, presented by the opposition, Rama said he was “happy that everyone understands, even those in Albania who are hammered by the propaganda of those who say that there is a dictator, that Albania is a democratic country. The Constitutional Court fulfilled its duty, it is automatic to suspend an agreement to take it into consideration before ratification.” Finally, Rama said that it is “always an honor to lend a hand to Italy when she asks for it, to consider ourselves a special friend of Italy”, stressing that we must “do everything to be a brotherly country. With the agreement with Albania, Italy is not trying to transfer the problem, but rather to expand the space to manage this path and, at the same time, deal with this problem.” Words that will certainly not please the Italian left, which already had attacked the socialist Rama in recent weeks.
