Pope Francis turns 87 years old and even the world of politics shows all its affection for the Pontiff on a special day. “On his birthday, I would like to send my sincere wishes to His Holiness Pope Francis. Thank you for your high teaching of Church leadership and your commitment to peace”, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s social message addressed to the Holy Father on his birthday.
The President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, also addressed a message to the Vatican Secretary of State, His Holiness Cardinal Pietro Parolin, on the festive occasion: “In an increasingly complex world, the figure of the Holy Father emerges as a beacon of wisdom , peace, unity and hope, not only for the faithful, but for the entire international community. His guidance represents a pillar of strength and inspiration, fundamental to the path to peace. On the occasion of today’s birthday of the Supreme Pontiff, I therefore ask you, Eminence, to send my most sincere wishes to the Holy Father, together with those of the Assembly of the Palazzo Madama. I join the faithful around the world in offering prayers and sympathetic thoughts to Pope Francis, in the hope that his message of love and unity will continue to resonate and bring about positive change.”
Sergio Mattarella’s greeting message is unmissable: “On the occasion of your eighty-seventh birthday, in the name of the Italian people and in my name, the most sincere and affectionate wishes of well-being and the fruitful continuation of your fruitful Magisterium reach you. . . In a world where, unfortunately, new rivalries are added to endless conflicts – observes the Head of State addressing the Pope -, his incessant pastoral action continues to remind everyone of the need to build solutions that re-establish peace, placing the person , with its inalienable dignity, at the center of the action of the international community. Your constant and sincere call to re-establish a relationship of respect and dialogue in our societies constitutes a high horizon of values for all women and men and of good will”.
